Baseball America released its Pioneer League Top 20 prospects list today. The Reds had two players come in ranked in the Top 20.

Yorman Rodriguez came in ranked 11th  in the league. Like other reports he was seen as having an incredible ceiling, excellent bat speed and very good defense but needs to work at the plate where he is still very raw.

DD Gregorius (pictured) came in at 18th in the league. Its said that he has the tools to stick at SS, is a slightly above average runner and has a good idea at the plate despite a lack of power.

I was surprised to see Gregorius in there a little bit, because I figured that a ‘higher upside’ guy would push him out. Rodriguez seems like a good placement. He is just 16 year olds, so its tough to rank him incredibly high.

Here is the remaining schedule for the Reds leagues:

  • October 1 – Midwest League
  • October 7 – Florida State League
  • October 9 – Southern League
  • October 13 – International League
