The Venezuelan Parallel League is essentially a minor league version of the Venezuelan Winter League. These stats aren’t available on Milb.com or anywhere else that I know of other than the leagues official website, which has gone from a professional look in the past to a text only version for the 2009 season. There are just over 900 players in this league, so I may have missed a few guys from our system. I went through the media guide and looked for everyone born in Venezuela. I found 6 guys on the offensive side of the ball and 3 on the pitching side. Here is what they are doing.

Pitchers

Team Player ERA IP H ER BB K 2B 3B HR AVG
Caribes Gonzalez, Aguido 10.12 2.2 5 3 1 3 0 0 1 .417

Magallanes Rodriguez, Efrain 9.00 5.0 6 5 2 3 1 1 0 .316

The talent level is all over the plate in this league. The average hitter has a line of .267/.354/.373, which also shows you that the league favors hitters quite a bit although it does look like power is tough to come by.

Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your family and some good food.
