Louisville took a 2-0 lead after 6 innings and moved their lead to 3-1 after the top of the 8th. They gave one back in the bottom half of the inning but were able to get it right back in the top of the 9th. Ryan Hanigan (rehab) went 0-2. Pedro Villarreal picked up his first win with 6 shutout innings. Yohan Pino picked up the save and lowered his ERA to 1.04 on the season while striking out 3 of the 4 hitters he faced. The win puts the Bats at 17-17 and the only team on the farm with a non-losing record.

Game Notes

The pitching struggled across the board. Daniel Renken allowed 4 runs in 5 innings with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Chris Manno gave up 3 runs in 2.1 innings and Kyle Lotzkar gave up 3 more in 0.2 innings. Tucker Barnhart pulled his average up to the .300 mark with his two hits. Travis Mattair is hitting .345 so far in May after really struggling in April.

Game Notes

Johnny Cueto looked good on the evening. Let’s see how he feels tomorrow and over the next few days, but hopefully all is well. Ismael Guillon picked 4 innings in the game and was both good and bad. He allowed 4 runs, which was bad, but he struck out 9 batters in those 4 innings with 2 walks, which is a step in the right direction for him. Tanner Rahier is hitting .263/.333/.632 in May after hitting just .152 in April.
