Game Notes

Jeff Francis struggled some in the game as he allowed 11 hits, but he controlled the damage some. Syracuse was up 4-0 after the top of the 7th inning before the Bats got on the board to make it 4-1. The Chiefs played add on in the 8th. Louisville scored a run in the 9th to cut the deficit to 5-2, but that was all they could push across. Tucker Barnhart had a big game with three hits.

Game Notes

Carlos Contreras got the start, but he left the game in the second inning after appearing to have hurt himself covering first base on a ground ball. He took warm up pitches and argued to try and stay in the game, but after a long conversation with Jef Fassaro (pitching coach) and Delino DeSheilds, he was removed. The bullpen came on and allowed nine runs, but the Blue Wahoos allowed six unearned runs in the game thanks to five errors in the game. On the bright side, Yorman Rodriguez and Donald Lutz both remained hot. Lutz is hitting .370 on the season and has 14 extra-base hits this season. Rodriguez is up to .325 on the year. Bryan Anderson has been splitting time behind the plate, but is also off to a quick start, hitting .313 after the game.

Bakersfield won 3-2. Box Score

Game Notes

Jesse Winker left the game after running into the wall trying to make a catch. Kyle Waldrop and Chris Berset had good games for the offense as they combined for five of the seven Blaze hits. The pitching was strong as James Allen threw six quality innings before handing the game over to the bullpen where Jimmy Moran and Carlos Gonzalez threw 3 hitless innings to seal the win. .Jimmy Moran lowered his ERA to 0.57 on the season and Carlos Gonzalez has yet to allow an earned run.

Dayton won 3-1. Box Score

  • Beau Amaral went 2-4 with a triple and a run.
  • Sebastian Elizalde went 1-4 with a run and an RBI.
  • Amir Garrett allowed a run in 5 innings with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts.
  • Alejandro Chacin threw 2 hitless innings with 3 walks and a strikeout.
  • Scott Brattvett threw 2 perfect innings with a strikeout.

Game Notes

The Dragons were hitless through six innings before Beau Amaral tripled and scored on a Sebastian Elizalde single that tied the game up. Phillip Ervin gave Dayton the lead on an RBI and added another run on a throwing error trying to catch a runner stealing a base. That was all the pitching would need. Amir Garrett recorded 11 ground outs and just one fly out as he allowed just two hits in five innings before handing the game to the bullpen. Alejandro Chacin and Scott Brattvet each fired 2 hitless innings to seal the win for Dayton as they moved to 12-7 on the season.
