Things didn’t start out so well for Billings as Great Falls grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Mustangs would turn things around though rather quickly in the second inning as Taylor Sparks and KJ Franklin would both single to put runners on the corners and Sparks would score on a wild pitch to tie the game up. In the third inning Brian O’Grady doubled and scored on an Argenis Aldazoro single to give the Mustangs the lead. Jimmy Pickens led off the fourth inning with a home run to make it three straight innings that Billings scored a run. In the fifth inning another wild pitch brought in a run, this time scoring Ty Washington who led off the inning with a single. The Mustangs held a 4-1 lead after five innings. The Voyagers got back into the game in the sixth inning as they scored two runs to make it a 4-3 game. A single and a walk put two runners on in the bottom of the ninth but Brennan Bernardino got a strikeout to end the game. The win gave the Mustangs the series and they will play in the Pioneer League Championship series against the Orem Owlz. There is even more good news that comes from just reaching the Championship, Orem has Milb.tv, so if you subscribe to the service you can even watch the road games. Not that it matters much, but Billings went 5-2 against Orem this season. The Championship Series will begin in Billings on Tuesday with the other two games in Orem on Thursday and Friday (if necessary).
