Just before noon today the Dayton Dragons, Daytona (yet to be named franchise – name forthcoming on Thursday) and Louisville Bats both released the announcements of their coaching staffs. Pensacola, Billings and Arizona have not yet announced who their coaching staffs would be.
Jose Nieves will return to the Dayton Dragons as their manager. He’s been the manager in Dayton for the previous two years. Nieves has also managed the Venezuelan Summer League Reds (no longer exist) and the Arizona League Reds. Here is his managerial record:
Joining Nieves will be pitching coach Tom Browning and hitting coach Luis Bolivar. Browning was the pitching coach in Bakersfield during the 2014 season and has been in Dayton and Billings in the past as well. Bolivar will return to Dayton as the hitting coach for the Dragons. He took over the job in the 2014 season and is now a native of the Dayton area.
The yet to be named franchise in Daytona announced that Eli Marrero will be the manager for the team in 2015. Marrero has spent the previous two seasons as the manager for the Arizona League Reds. Here is his managerial record:
Marrero will be joined on the staff by pitching coach Tony Fossas and hitting coach Kevin Mahar. Fossas has spent six seasons as the pitching coach in Dayton and one season with the Billings Mustangs. Mahar will be in his third season with the organization, spending the previous two years as the hitting coach for the Billings Mustangs.
The Bats officially announced that Delino DeShields will be their manager, although DeShields broke that news a month ago. What we didn’t know until today is that he turned down the job as first base coach with the Minnesota Twins to take the promotion to the Louisville Bats job. He has managed in Billings, Dayton and Pensacola in past seasons for the Reds organization. Here is his managerial record:
Ted Power will be returning as the pitching coach for the Louisville Bats. It will be his 10th season as their pitching coach. Tony Jaramillo is also returning to the Bats and will serve as their hitting coach for the third season. He’s also been the hitting coach in Billings, Dayton, Lynchburg, Bakersfield and Pensacola in past seasons.
