Daniel Wright continued his turnaround with seven strong innings of one run baseball. The Blue Wahoos scored a run in each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings and added another in the 6th to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Montgomery would only score one run on the night, getting their lone run in the 7th as Pensacola moved to 10-7 in the second half.

Daytona was down early as Bradenton took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. In the 6th the Tortguas cut the lead in half, but found themselves down 3-1 heading into the bottom of the 8th. Ronald Bueno would single and Phillip Ervin would follow with a double to lead off the inning. They would score on a ground out and a sac fly on the next two plays to tie the game up. The game would go to extra innings where a pick off throw that got away would cost Daytona the eventual winning run for Bradenton.

Game Notes

This game was about as back-and-forth as one can get. Both teams scored three runs in the 1st inning and Lansing added two more in the 2nd. The Dragons would tie the game up in the 3rd with two runs of their own. The Lugnuts would grab the lead in the 5th with a single run and would hold that lead until the bottom of the 9th inning. With two outs and Luis Gonzalez on second base and Jonathan Reynoso on 3rd, Paul Kronenfeld singled to tie the game, but Gonzalez was thrown out at the plate to send the game into extra innings. Neither team would score in the 10th, but Lansing grabbed a 7-6 lead in the top of the 11th. Chad Tromp would double with 1-out in the bottom of the inning and would be pinch run for. Shed Long, pinch running, would move to third on an infield single. An error by the third baseman with two outs would bring Long in to tie the game back up. Both teams went would fail to score in the 12th, but the Lugnuts certainly tried as they loaded the bases with no outs. They would come through in the top of the 13th with the help of a Dayton error that extended the inning and lead to two runs. The Dragons began a rally with one out in the bottom of the 13th with some help from the pitching. Cory Thompson was hit by a pitch and Luis Gonzalez walked to put the tying runs on. Paul Kronenfeld tripled to bring both runners in and tie things up. The next two batters were intentionally walked to set up a force out at home or a double play that could end the inning. It didn’t work as Argenis Aldazoro singled into right field to win the game.
