What to watch for today
The game will be available on MLB.tv if you’ve got a subscription to that service. It will also be available on MLB Network.
The big news, at least as of right now, is that Jon Moscot was scheduled to start and has been scratched. He is dealing with an intercoastal strain that he suffered in batting practice a few days ago. He’s expected to be fine.
Jose Peraza is back at shortstop and leading off. He’s been swinging a hot bat over the last week. He’s performed well this spring despite being the youngest guy still in camp. I’d still like to see him tested at the shortstop position.
Yorman Rodriguez is second on the team with four walks, but the hits simply haven’t been showing up. Is tonight the night when the patient approach starts to lead to some hits finding the grass instead of the gloves?
Stepping in for Moscot is Tim Adleman, who has been pitching out of the bullpen this spring. He’s not being considered for the rotation, but keep an eye on how he handles things. He’s a strike thrower who mixes things up well.
The bench is made up entirely of minor leaguers, so when the back ups come in we should get a good look at a few guys. With Adleman stepping in to make the start, he may not be scheduled to go as long as Moscot was, so we may see an extra arm that wasn’t listed above as being slated to go enter into the game at some point.
