It’s been quite a while since we checked in on the Cincinnati Reds players that are in winter ball this year. Let’s take a look at how everyone has performed so far.

While the Arizona Fall League has been over for a while now, newly acquired Josh Van Mater did play there before he joined the organization. He posted a high on-base percentage while in Arizona. His strikeout-to-walk ratio of 19-to-17 was very strong. Sebastian Elizalde has been in a big slump in Mexico for the last month. He’s held his plate approach, but the results simply haven’t shown up lately. Gabby Guerrero has been the only position player getting much action on the field in the Dominican Republic.
Alejandro Chacin is the only minor league pitcher to get playing time outside of the Arizona Fall League for the Reds. The righty has been quite successful in the Venezuelan Winter League this winter. Jumbo Diaz has started pitching in the last month for his team as well, working as the closer and picking up three saves.
The regular season ended on Christmas eve for the Dominican Winter League and the playoffs began last night. The Venezuelan Winter League regular season ends tomorrow. The Mexican Winter League and Puerto Rican Winter League will both have their regular seasons end on the 30th. The winners of each league will then begin play in the Caribbean Series on February 1st and run through the 7th.
