In what seems to be a tradition, the Daytona Tortugas took on Embry Riddle in an exhibition the night before they kick off their season. Unsurprisingly the professional team took an easy victory over the college team, winning 13-1. There’s no box score available for the game, but we go have some highlights from the game courtesy of the Tortugas.

Shed Long had three hits in the game, leading the offense. Outfielder Narciso Crook, who missed most of the 2016 season after shoulder surgery in April, reached base four times in the game, had a few steals and scored two runs. Reydel Medina added two singles as all but one starter reached base at least once in the game.

New addition to the roster

When the Tortugas released their roster on Monday it originally had Mark Armstrong on the pitching staff, but he will begin the year on the disabled list. That led to left handed pitcher Ty Boyles being sent up from his original assignment in Dayton to join the team in Daytona.

Daytona is the only farm team that will open up their 2017 season on the road. They will travel to Kissimmee to take on the Florida Firefrogs tonight at 6:35pm.
