I had high hopes of seeing more w’s than l’s with our minor league teams this year. Sadly they are mirroring the “winning tradition” of the Reds.

  2. The Duke

Michael Byrne was rolling last night before getting lit up in his last inning. We’ll see if he can avoid that big inning the third time through the order as the year progresses. He was a reliever in college, which might be where he ends up as a pro.

He needs to be in the swingman role like Stephenson. Between Castillo Gray and Mahle we have a good trio for starting pitching. Then throw in Disco and possibly resign Roark

      • The Duke

Roark turns 33 at the end of this season. If we can get him back on a good deal, maybe, but the Reds should have the money to potentially upgrade the rotation next year. If we can sign a legit #3 and have Mahle in more of a back end rotation role, then the starting pitching could be really strong next year.

May 1st finds the Reds 7 games behind in the NL Central. For a team with the league’s lowest ERA, fewest runs allowed, & a +10 run differential, that’s disappointing. As for last night, 13 strikeouts & 17 LOB while Castillo is the sp is not only a poor performance by the offense, but questionable strategy by the game manager as well.

Have to think Cody Reed is going to get another shot soon. The Reds bullpen is running on fumes with the exception of Zack Duke who hasn’t pitched in the Mets’ Series. Peralta has been very inconsistent and he has been in 2 of last 3. Hopefully he can become the left-handed version of 2019 Robert Stephenson.

Running on fumes because of the way they are used. Stephenson should have finished the game. Period

Your bullpen was taxed. Robert was fresh and could have, should have pitched to more than 2 batters

agreed reaganspad time for Duke to go and bring up Reed to replace him he gives you the opportunity to pitch longer stints in games than Duke does. Time for Schebler to hit the road or somewhere, AAA maybe…..replaced by Senzel……time to Dfa KEMP and bring up VanMeter

Kind of surprised the Reds want Senzel playing today if his call-up is eminent. I have a friend who back in the 60s found out he was being called up to the Twins the next day. AAA Manager asked him if he wanted to play that night. He said yes, ran into an outfield fence, damaged his shoulder and never made it to big leagues.

Wow, that’s terrible. Worse than Moonlight Graham stuff there.

      • MK

He played defensive back on one of the Ohio State National Champion Football teams so at least he had that claim to fame.
