The stupid runner on 2nd rule in extra innings bit the Dragons. The hitting was better than last night, and the pitching was generally effective.
One high point was the Dragons’ manager tossing my grandson a ball.
All of 150 or so fans in the stands.

I think Dragons had the first chance in the game to take advantage of “the stupid runner on 2nd rule” and could not execute as well as the Chiefs.

Also, Willems was removed from the game in the 2nd inning. I don’t believe that there was any announcement why.

I am guessing it was disciplinary. His strike three wasn’t caught, so he should have run down to first. Instead he turned and walked back to the dugout. Luis has been known to pull and bench guys in the past for things like that. That’s my guess, at least.

I’d love to know if that runner in the 10th actually touched the plate or not. The video guys know by now, I’m sure. But I want to know.

I feel that O’Grady is getting overshadowed by Van Meter’s hot start. O’Grady is 4th in the IL in average, 1st in OPS, 1st in slugging, and tied for 10th in homeruns despite being out for a week.

Striking out too much, but he has good K/BB numbers at each level.

Boy, a lot of AAA guys are hitting the snot out of the ball. I think it’s the ball to a certain degree, so for now I’m looking at these guys with a degree of suspicion much like I do with Pacific coast league players.

It’s the same baseball they are using in the Majors. And unlike the PCL, it’s not the ballparks.
