I am thinking that Phil Ervin is putting things together. Anyone else think that he has the potential to be an everyday player?

    • Michael Smith

Always thought he was at least a 4th outfielder Simon so not hard to see him getting the majority of starts with some teams.

    • RojoBenjy

I’ve voiced my opinion before that he played well enough in ST to be on the opening day roster.

    • Tom

He’s been strong in AAA for 2 years. As a first rounder he deserves a shot at starting every day. He and Blandino are similar in this regard.

    • Cguy

In my book he starts in LF vs all LHSP for the Reds. Additionally he should be subbing for Puig in RF 1 day a week.

      • Red Yoda

I agree with Cguy. Start as a platoon with Winker, plus a game a week. If he puts up every day numbers, he’ll force his way into the lineup more.

    • Stock

In the right situation he could be an everyday player. I think VanMeter, Aquino and possibly Blandino would be better suited to play everyday though.

I think VanMeter is the everyday 2B for the Reds next summer.

      • Norwood Nate

You don’t think the Reds hang onto Dietrich?

  2. Mark

Doug I see where Allan Cerda is on fire right now can you give any new insight on his prospect status in the organization? He seems like a pretty good prospect always productive in Greenville summaries.

    • Doug Gray

There will be a write up later this week (maybe this weekend for Patreon supporters) on Cerda.

Had a couple first basemen work on some versatility last night. Spillane with Deagons and Ibandel with Lookouts played right field. Don’t know if this was a directed plan from above or just a coincidence.

Four Dayton pitchers combining for shutout was excellent.

  4. Pokey Reese's Red Hot Bat

My attempt at doing a Doug (part one)

    Louisville Bats lost 6-3

Ryan Nutof threw a scoreless innings

  6. Pokey Reese's Red Hot Bat

    • RojoBenjy

L’ville Cardinal Brendan McKay. Wish him well except when he plays the Redlegs.

Won’t lie, though—would rather see him in the Cincinnati laundry.

    • RojoBenjy

McKay, in MLB debut against the Rangers:

      6.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 3 SO

      Rays win, 5-2

  7. RojoBenjy

Since the Twins seem to be making their run this year, does anyone think the Reds have any trade chips to pry away Royce Lewis or Alex Kiriloff?

    • MK

SR. Iglesias might help them but not sure for those guys. Might be jolt needed to get him back on track as well. Lewis ‘s stock might have dropped a little after his push-ups incident.

    • Wes

Luis Castillo. I do it in a 1/2 a heartbeat if I’m both sides. Need both and their best pitching prospect balazovic.

      • RojoBenjy

Sweet you mean Castillo for both Lewis and Kiriloff plus Balazovic? That would be awesome.

        If only….

Why isn’t Krall on the phone right now? Lol

  8. Norwood Nate

Wonder about Schebler being pulled in the 3rd after he had led off with a double. Did he injure something? Hopefully not.

Trammell has been struggling recently. Not what you want to see out of the top prospect. 0-4 with a walk, .687 OPS on the year is rough. Hoping he picks it up.

    Appreciate Pokey’s run down.

  9. MK

A little excitement late in Dragons’ game. Bolivar had the umpires check the Caps pitcher, who was ejected after they found a foreign substance (I’m thinking stickum) on his arm. I have never seen that in a Minor League game.
