I listen to part of the dating game and see Yanni made a great throw to home for an out.

I listened to part of the Dayton game. And Siani threw out a runner at home

Autocarrot will always get you when you aren’t paying attention.

India 1-3 with a walk. Hey look he’s at it again!!

    • Big Ed

He will eventually break DiMaggio’s hitting streak, but hitting only .279 during the streak.

Wood looked good but I was surprised when he came back out in the sixth. His mechanics though make my back hurt watching. You could tell the losing streak was wearing on them by their reactions after the game.

    • Oldtimer

Wood in Reds rotation will allow Mahe to work out his struggles in AAA.

Castillo, Gray, Roark, Desclafani, and Wood is a good 5 man starting group.

If he were traded now, the Reds would get next to nothing for him.

With the Tradeline approaching I am curious if the Reds will receive better players coming then the players traded in Rainey, Gray, Downs and Long.

I would think who we get for Roark will be better than Rainey.

I think getting Sonny Gray is better than Long and the comp pick.

Kemp salary for Bailey salary (and headache) was a plus.

Whoever we get for Puig unless he signs an extentsion is who I am curious about will be better than Josiah Gray.

I can see Farmer being worth Downs.

Whats happens with Woods is the wildcard.

    Any thoughts?

Yeah, hopefully Alex Wood pitches well in August & September. After the season the Reds extend him a QO (about $19MM). Either he accepts or signs for $50MM plus with another team and the Reds receive a Compensation A pick in next year’s draft. Both of those options make the Dodger trade successful (long term).

      • SaveTheFarm

I’d be scared he’d sign that 19 mill QO lol

Reds aren’t the type of team that can eat 19 million without it messing up the team.

If someone offers you a ham sandwich for the guy you have to take it. He hasn’t pitched and why would they sign someone who was hurt almost the entire previous season? Reds cannot take big chances on guys like that.

      • Wes

Give wood 19 million ?!? ?? he makes 10 and didn’t perform. How bout 8 in good faith with a mutual option for raise

    • Oldtimer

Puig rumored going to Indians per MLB article.

      • Puig66

After the Indians top 2 the only players I would be interested in is Freeman or Valera for Puig. If the Reds cannot get either then I would take my chances with a QO or an extension.

      • Doug Gray

Let me clear this up: This is not a rumor at all. This is a writer saying Puig could be a good fit there.

        Music to our ears.
“Alex Wood (rehab) allowed a run in 6.0 innings on 4 hits, no walks, and he struck out 4.” Wood should be activated from the IL in 5 days. That puts him in line to start the game on Sunday July 28 vs. Colorado, the same schedule DeSclafani would be on. Sims pitches on Wednesday the 24th, tomorrow. His next spot would be on July 30th vs. PIT. Off day Thursday the 25th. Wood should be ready for the 28th or the 30th.
That puts Roark and DeSclafani right up on the trading block.

      • Jim t

Not trading Disco but Roark and Wood should be made available for the right return. From the pen Hernandez, Hughes and Iglesias should be available. Position players should include Puig, Scooter, Iglesias and DD should be available. I’m not saying anyone is untouchable only that the above mentioned are not signed long term and should be offered in a deal to any contender with a need.

      • Oldtimer

It is a prediction in MLB article. Prediction.

      • Oldtimer

        (Clipped from MLB article)

        Yasiel Puig, RF, Reds
        Prediction: Indians.

The Reds received a great deal of credit last winter for adding to their team in an attempt to break a skid of six straight losing seasons, but it hasn’t worked — at 44-53, they’re once again in last place in the NL Central. That means they’ll likely pivot and sell off their impending free agents, and that might mean Puig, who shook off a brutal start (.192/.226/.354 in April) to rake; since June 1, he’s been one of the 20 best hitters in baseball (.318/.358/.635), as good as Cody Bellinger or Alex Bregman. There’s actually a strong baseball fit with the Cubs, though we’ll consider that unlikely after last month’s Pedro Strop-related shenanigans, so Puig stays in Ohio, heading to a Cleveland club that’s back in the playoff race and still in need of outfield help, even with Oscar Mercado and Tyler Naquin playing well.

How does a team with the talent that Chattanooga has lose 14 games in a row?? That is four-teen in a row. That is just extremely hard to fathom.

    • Doug Gray

Yeah they are! It’s been corrected. Thanks for the heads up.

  6. RedsKoolAidDrinker

Was Alex Wood sent to Chatty because they were worried that another start could be cut short by the rain in Louisville? I’m glad he went and helped the Lookouts end the streak.

    • AirborneJayJay

Louisville had an off day. I would imagine Wood is on a very strict schedule so they just bumped him down a level.
