Friedl is pushing upwards. The next 4/5th homegrown OF might be closer than we think. Siani is looking quite a ways off. Seems like all roads lead back to Senzel. Could be worse.

I think that Friedl is a better overall player than Akiyama. And at 1/15 the price.

This goes back to my theory that the Reds actually aren’t cheap. They’ve spent enough money to be much better, but they’ve spent it in the wrong places. They pay $16 million/year to Moustakas and $8 million to Akiyama, and neither one really has a place to play on this team.

Doug, Phillip Diehl has pitched well at Louisville, with a 2.82 and a WHIP just over 1. I realize his MLB record is not very good but is there any other reason why he has not been given an opportunity to come up?

I’m just speculating, but he’s a lefty who righties have typically hit very well and now that there’s the 3-batter minimum it makes it tough to call up lefties like this.

Shipley must be one of Boddy’s favorites because he has not looked real good in an appearances far.
