Hunter Greene getting to the point where he has little left to prove in MiLB. Senzel might need to be optioned when he is eligible to return to get him more low leverage at bats and get him going?
Ruben Ibarra sighting! Among a couple other 2021 draftees.
Calling Hunter Greene. Clean up in the Reds bullpen coming your way! Lorenzen back recently, next Sims this weekend, and then Antone. Greene getting called up in September should be the final shot in the arm for the bullpen!!
Then back to starting next year…. ?
There wasn’t supposed to be a ? there. Greene absolutely should be starting next year
So what has happened to the whole service time arguments when it comes to Hunter. I don’t see him in the big leagues at least May 2022.
Looks like Ashcraft has returned to the world of mortal man. Still performance is good but not inhuman.
Teams that play service time games on pitchers are beyond stupid. I will die on that hill.
Doug is Moreta in the reds BP in 2022?
He’s been dominant since 2019. I’d say he deserves a shot at some point.
Vellojin is interesting because of the 1:1 K:BB ratio. At 21 in Daytona, I’d look for him to work his way steadily through to Cincinnati some day. How’s his defense?
His defense is outstanding.
I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, but never mind!
Another great game for Balcazar. The Reds have 5 17 year old hitting at the top of their lineup. Balcazar is 6-8 months younger than the others.
Jorge, Serrano and Balcazar were all signed as SS so his defense is hopefully good. As for the offense of one of the youngest players in the DSL. He is either tied or leading the league in the following categories: HR, Extra Base Hits, Total Bases, ISO. His ISO of .381 is Bonds on steroids like.
I know Doug has Almonte and Valdez in his top 25 but Balcazar is the one I am watching
and today he is 1-1 with a run and his 6th SB
I agree, some pretty interesting players emerging in complex league right now.
It would be nice if the Reds could figure out a way to call up HG, but not start his service time clock. I think it is time for the front office to get creative, we need to get a leg up someway or another.
I think Greene should finish at AAA this year. Every time I’ve seen him in minor league games his fastball is around or above 100 but has no movement. He doesn’t pin point it enough to consistently get major league hitters out. He would be great if he could get movement on his fastball and have more accuracy as to where he throws it.
They could be more like the White Sox and sign him to a 7 year contract with several options.
Do not play service time games with pitchers. It’s useless. You never know when the last pitch is coming. Get every last one of them in the big leagues once you determine the player is capable.
Hunter Greene is just a couple of more dominating starts from being in everyone’s top 10.
If Barrero finishes the year with a OPS north of 1 at Louisville he should be in the top 25.
if Lodolo finishes strong he should be in everyone’s top 50.
McClain has interesting first pro at bat on Friday. Singled to left then thrown out at plate left to short to home. Had to be an error in there somewher, but nothing in the immediate play description or box score.
Yeah – not sure why it took until after the game to correct it, maybe it’s a software problem…. but it was corrected to a triple and thrown out at the plate.
