The roster number crunch probably makes it tough, but Moreta continues to impress. Is he somebody that could step into the Reds pen now?
I believe so, yes.
Should there be a roster crunch, though? How much would it really hurt us if we lost Hembree, Brach and Doolittle? Of course though we have a few coming back from the DL and then Santillan at AAA.
Always a good sign when the pitcher does well in a game caught by new catcher Nelson. 6 strikeouts, 2 walks, no passed balls and no stolen bases. Plus his offense! Lets move him to Chattanooga in a week and see what he’s really got!
Elly De La Cruz had a triple in 2 ABs before the Daytona game was suspended. I think he is now tied for the lead league in triples, with the other guy having played 3 times more games.
He may end up a centerfielder. And pitcher. Maybe even GM. They need to sign his brothers and sisters, too.
So Koloszvary is out?
Nelson is going to be good but the development of pro catchers is a much more tedious process. As far as no steals the Dragons have scored in double digits in all his games therenot leading their opponents to stealing base strategies.
In the past a limited number of draft picks have bypassed Low-A Dayton and gone right to High A. Berger and Mount are a couple examples of that. This year there are thee (McLain, Rogers,Nelson). Is this a result of the elimination of the non complex rookie leagues? And, does that mean the talent levels of A and A+ are less than previous years?
Herget not Berger
I’ve heard more than a few people say that the level of play in A-ball is lower this year than in the past because of the lack of rookie ball.
