Where do we project that McLain will start the season in 2022?

I continue to be alarmed by his size. The stats say he is 5’11” but he is hardly 5’8”. Typically that is not a body that holds up over a long haul..

Kind of impressive that O’Brien turned 2 hits and 7 walks into 4 scoreless innings. I just flipped through the box score and saw he also hit a batter. A caught stealing kept a run from scoring in the 2nd when he walked four straight guys. Interesting statline for the day.

Good to see Jose Siri’s revival in the Astros org. He just got the call up. Doug, thanks for the video on twitter. Good moment.

Since announcing the Jose Barrero callup on July 16, the Reds’ left side of the infield has hit…

    Farmer 0.231 / 0.236 / 0.404 in 55 plate appearances
    Suarez 0.182 / 0.269 / 0.409 in 26 plate appearances
    Cabrera 0.200 / 0.200 / 0.275 (0.000 / 0.000 / 0.000 with the Reds)

Meanwhile, the guy hitting 0.307 / 0.389 / 0.589 in L’ville, and who happens to be the best defensive infielder in their organization, barely gets a chance to play.

I don’t understand how a trio, who are collectively hitting 0.190 since he was called up, justify playing time over him?

Good to see he’s still hitting in AAA after being demoted in favor of inferior players.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering what people had made of his brief spell with the big league club. I always imagined it can be hard to find a groove, for these guys who’ve been raking, and then get into a new environment, but have to sit a bunch.

Was a little surprised at the velocity readings for Roa last night. According to scoreboard he topped out at 94 and I only saw that once. Sat at 91-92 most of the time. For some reasonI I thought he threw harder than that. Guess it shows velocity isn’t everything.

Since returning from his suspension, Sanmartin has thrown 38+ innings of 7 walk, 36 K, 3.26 ERA, 4 homer baseball. Opponent OPS of .645.
14 earned runs in 12 games (6 starts, 6 relief). 12 of the runs came in the starts, and 7 in one outing.

Could he find his way as a lefty in the Reds bullpen / starting depth next year? My personal guess, but I put low chances both of AG and Wilson being in Cincinnati’s bullpen next year.
