Let’s start off with the news of the day: The Reds, Director of Pitching Kyle Boddy, and Hitting Coordinator C.J. Gillman have “parted ways” as of Friday morning. Both Boddy and Gillman released statements of their own, noting that the organization was going in a different direction than the way of the previous regime that was in charge when they were hired (the Dick Williams led front office). You can read their full statements here if you would like. I will have some more thoughts on all of this at some point this weekend here at RedsMinorLeagues.com.
If you are interested in getting emailed every day during the season with additional game notes and a rundown on how the Cincinnati Reds Top 25 Prospects performed (along with other perks) you can sign up to support the site through Patreon and get all of that for a few bucks a month. If that’s something that sounds interesting you can get more information here.

Someone mentioned yesterday that behind Ashcraft there isn’t a huge amount of pitching prospects, Carson Spiers might turn into that guy. Quickly coming along. Eduardo Salazar and Christian Roa, too.
Yes, and one low-profile pitcher is Jacques Pucheu but has really good numbers this season between A+ and AA. He deserves our attention. Another pitcher having good performance recently after a bad season start is Randy Wynne and similar to James Marinan. Don’t forget Bryce Bonnin and Joe Boyle…
Jose Torres, wow….another of the shortstop pipeline. He shouldn’t be ignored as a high draft pick.
Elly De la Cruz, he’s a middle infielder but now may be the time to diversify him a bit and give him some time in the outfield. He could make a really good center fielder prospect with that speed. Never bad to have extra options.
There are a lot of good shortstops in the system and if Barrera is considered a 10-year solution there then others are going to need to move.
Yeah, but he’s going to have to wait 3 more years until Kyle Farmer is a free agent…..
Was talking with someone last night and said “Jose Torres has been an incredibly pleasant surprise. Out of the draft he was a great glove who ‘couldn’t hit much’ and he just goes out and crushes the ball in his debut”
Jay Allen is a stat machine
