With the minor league season now complete for everyone but Louisville and the DSL Reds, the game reviews are going to be slimmed down versions for the next two weeks. On Monday and Tuesday it will be even slimmer as Louisville has those days off, leaving just the DSL Reds on the field. Today they won in a 6-inning contest to move to 25-22 on the year.

The Louisville Bats had the day off

The Bats will return to the field on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-game home series against Toledo in the first of two 5-game series in the “Triple-A Playoffs” which will feature every team having a home and road series and the team with the best winning percentage being named “Playoff Champion”.

The DSL Reds won 6-1 in 6. Box Score

Other than Louisville’s record it is great to see all of the remaining teams at .500 or above at a plus 24 games. I do believe the future is looking bright I just wish that I had more faith with the front office and ownership.

With Jorge’s season there in the DSL it seems there is a quality shortstop at just about every level, in some cases two.

It’s impressive. Luis Rivas at AA seems more like a utility guy but I’d be curious about his skills at SS too

I don’t understand the AAA playoffs rules… How is a team gonna be a champion by winning percentage? Since playing the same number of games between two teams they can be tied when the road/home series come to an end.

Is Brayan Rijo son or relative of the former Reds Star José Rijo?

I was viewing the stats of Carlos Jorge and he does seem to be low-average defensive player although he has shown very good hitting skills in this season

They go with winning percentage because there’s no guarantee that every team is going to be able to play 10 games. It’s going to be weird. I don’t know what the tie-breaker rules are. It’s all very stupid from a “championship” standpoint. But it was also a way to give the Triple-A teams an extra home stand to bring in some more money.

As far as I can see, Rijo is not related to the other Rijo.

Doug do you really think they care about the teams money when they have cut the number of playoff teams in every other level. And, the additional revenue is probably needed more at the lower levels.

In addition cutting playoff teams eliminates many teams who would be in contention later in the season which would increase ticket sales and thus revenue.

I think they care about the Triple-A teams more than any of the other ones, yes.
