Michael Siani had another big day for Chattanooga as his strong start to 2022 continues, Jose Torres had three hits and homered behind Connor Phillips and his 6.0 shutout inning with 9 strikeouts in a Dayton win, and down in Florida Blake Dunn and Braylin Minier picked up their first homers of the season for the Tortugas.

One reason why Louisville has had losing records for the last decade is the Reds’ willingness to promote players directly from AA to the majors. India, Stephenson, Barrero, Castillo, and others have advanced to the Reds after little or no time at AAA. McLain might continue that pattern.

Who is McClain going to replace?
India? Not likely to replace the reigning RoY.
Drury? Not likely as Drury is performing at the MLB level the same as McClain is performing at AA.
Farmer? That’s a possibility since everybody has been trying to get rid of Farmer since he got here, but it would mean that McClain has passed Barrero on the SS depth chart. Certainly possible, but Barrero is shortly to be back playing. Wasn’t Barrero’s AAA year bigger than McClain’s AA year?

I’d see a McClain move to AAA mid season before I’d see him move to MLB this year, barring further unforeseen circumstances.

Louisville has had more winning seasons the last decade or even two than Dayton and they have had 2 Stephensons, Senzel, India, Greene, Lodolo, McLain.so those haven’t made the difference.

Doug, Siani is showing a bit more power to go with the rest of some very nice tools. Adding power would be huge for him. Your thoughts???

Very interesting quartet will start the games tonight as Ashcraft, Abott, Roa and Petty are among Reds top pitching prospects and big hopes are on them…

Should be a fun day of pitching! I’m looking forward to Roa’s 1st start, and Abbott’s 1st start as a AA pitcher.

In the highlights every teams starting shortstop is included (Motter, McLain, de la Cruz, Steiger). That doesn’t include Torres who had the best night of the bunch as a second baseman. There are only so many middle infield positions and India and Barrero are still pretty young and Miguel Hernandez is injured. Means position changes or trade chips. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Kinda makes you think India should move back to 3B next year. Our up the middle D could be great with Barrero SS, and Mclain 2B. If Siani resurgence is real, that would complete the center of our defense for years to come. De La Cruz and Torres will need spots, but they are further away, so I’m sure it will work out.

    Keep approach Siani loving it.
So huge if he reaches his Potential.
Get closer to 27, but like see Dawson get chance.
    Hometown Kid with tools.
But way team playing, all he can is perform at AAA.

Connor Phillips is a stud! Starting to get the walks under control too (only 4 total walks in his last 3 games)

Really easy to see why the Seattle FO was bummed to include him in the PTBNL pool. Top 100 type of talent

Andrew Abbott making his first start in AA. 5 1/3 innings 0 runs 3 hits 12 Strike Outs 0 walks

Didn’t miss a beat going up a level. Hopefully AA continues to be easy for him, we may need him this year if Castillo and Mahle are dealt. Ashcraft had a nice outing, and Roa with a strong 1st game as well, 9 K’s in 4 IN. You got to feel good about the future of our pitching staff.
