The Louisville Bats lost 6-2. Box Score

Game Notes

Cristian Santana has been on base in 14 of the last 15 games. The only game in there that he didn’t reach base in was on May 11th when he only had one at-bat. He’s hitting .396 in that span.

Lorenzo Cedrola had another multi-hit game – hit 16th of the season in his 32nd game played. He’s now hitting .302/.336/.417 with 10 extra-base hits.

The Chattanooga Lookouts won 7-2. Box Score

Game Notes

Robbie Tenerowicz homered for the second straight game. He’s killed the ball in May, hitting .378/.481/.689 with 2 doubles and 4 home runs in 13 games.

Isiah Gilliam keeps on hitting for the Lookouts. He’s now up to .294/.361/.550 in 29 games with 15 extra-base hits.

Brandon Williamson struggled to begin the year. In April he made four starts and posted a 6.61 ERA with 15 walks in 16.1 innings. In his three starts in May he’s posted a 3.00 ERA and walked just 4 batters in 18.0 innings.

Game Notes

Elly De La Cruz had a big day, continuing his big month of May. In 10 games this month he’s hitting .324/.419/.595 with 6 extra-base hits, 3 steals, 5 walks, and 9 strikeouts. His home run went 415 feet

Alex McGarry just continues to give pitchers nightmares in the Midwest League. The left-handed hitter picked up another extra-base hit and got on base twice. Through 26 games he’s hitting .323/.365/.802 with 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 11 home runs for the Dragons.

Ashton Creal hasn’t played much in May, but he’s taken advantage of the time when he’s gotten it. He’s now 5-12 with 3 walks in 4 games during the month.

Jonathan Willems, like Creal, hasn’t played much in May. In his 4 games, though, he’s picked up 3 extra-base hits.

The Daytona Tortugas lost 8-0. Box Score

Game Notes

It was a rough day for Daytona who gave up 14 hits on the day but managed just 4 of them – with 3 of them coming off of the bat of Jamal O’Guinn.

Braylin Minier had a good week’s debut after joining Daytona to begin the series against Clearwater. He went 4-14 (.286) with a walk, double, and a home run – good for an OPS of .904. Minier won’t turn 19 for another month.

Nick Lodolo, Brandon Williamson, Andrew Abbott.

Hunter Greene, Chase Petty, Connor Phillips.

    Drafting and astute acquisitions.

  2. MK

Williamson had a nice bounce back outing against same team he struggled against on Tuesday. 2 out of last 3 starts have been good.

McGarry and “The Byrd” both deserve promotion. Chattanooga could use McGarry at first where Tenerowicz has been playing a lot and Robbie would share time with Cordoba and Santana at 1st, 3rd and DH.

Wolford could certainly use more playing time in Dayton.

It’s nice to see Williamson and De La Cruz getting hot, as they are 2 of our top prospects not in the mlb.

  3. Matt

Nice to see Cerda have consecutive good games. Hopefully he comes around.

Small sample of 10 games, but de la Cruz has a ~20% K rate in May. Down from the 36% he posted in April.

To echo MK, Tenerowicz needs promoted to Louisville. I think Gilliam could deserve a promotion, too. He’s got some swing and miss, but is hitting well overall.

Doug. What are ur thoughts on who Castillo returns via trade? Would he bring back hassell from Padres? Or possibly a miller and Busch from dodgers?? Or will it be something less

    • Shawn

Not Doug but I doubt the Padres will be looking for pitching. They are more likely to trade away one of their starting pitchers. I asked Aram Leighton of Just Baseball what kind of return we could get back. He said 2 top 100 prospects would be reasonable. I also asked on a MLB trade Rumors chat and they also said 2 top 100 prospects.

      • Hoyce

I’d be happy w miller and Busch of dodgers. And that fits the 2 top 100.
I can see astros, twins, Rockies angels giants dodgers braves mets Yankees and rays. All looking to upgrade.
