Two games were entirely postponed by the weather, one game was suspended in the 3rd inning by rain, but the Chattanooga Lookouts won 8-7 and gave the farm system a perfect record of 1-0 on the day.

The Louisville Bats game was suspended

Despite the game being suspended in the 3rd inning by rain, the game that did take place was not without something weird taking place. The game played full inning in a downpour. The umpires finally called the grounds crew out in the middle of the bottom of the 3rd inning. While jogging off of the field Nick Senzel apparently said something to the umpire, who then tossed him from the game.

The game never picked up from there and will resume on Sunday at 2:05pm and be a full 9-inning game. The regularly scheduled game will follow and that one will be a 7-inning game.

The Chattanooga Lookouts won 8-7. Box Score

The Dayton Dragons were postponed.

It somehow went entirely unannounced, but Jake Fraley was in the lineup for Dayton on Saturday night as he began a rehab assignment. The game never got started, though.

Doubleheader on Sunday starting at 1:05pm. Both games will be 7-inning affairs.

The Daytona Tortugas were postponed.

Doubleheader set for Sunday afternoon starting at 3:30pm. Both games will be 7-inning contests.

Williamson had 3 BB and a walk in the 1st inning then settled down. Only 1 BB and 1 hit in the next 4 innings.

Good to see Hopkins reappearing over here! He’d gone missing there for a bit.

Senzel probably didn’t want to go back out after a rain delay so he preemptively ensured that would be the case!

Today will be the Dragons 6th doubleheader of the year and its still May. At some point this cuts into development as 7 inning games rather than 9 has cut 24 innings of pitching innings, and at least50 at bats.

Matt McLain is a puzzle right now. Another HR, and another three strikeouts. So, is he selling out for power? Or, is he being directed to focus on power? I mean, striking out at well over 30% in May at AA is not normally a stat leading to a promotion to even AAA let alone the ML’s.

You just never know in minors if they are working on something that makes something else look bad or not. I know one year in Dayton a lot of guys were getting thrown out stealing in odd situations (like 3rd with 2 out). Found out Eric Davis instructed them to go regardless of situation. That lasted about a month.
