The Louisville game was blown out by Dowdy, Cruz and Moreta dropping a 7-run lead at 8th inning. The three best relievers they have…Really a heartbreaking loss

Look at the total pitches to strikes thrown totals of the Louisville pitchers last night. If you don’t throw strikes, you deserve to lose. I don’t understand why professional baseball players can’t understand the concept. Especially in a game you lead by 7 runs. What’s the mentality of a relief pitcher not able to throw strikes in that situation. And Dugger – the starter wasn’t any better. Less than 50-% of most of relief pitches thrown are strikes. Think about that for a second.

I infer that the problem of relief pitching at the Reds level is not soon to be solved by what is in Louisville!

        Doc – That’s a bingo!

Who would you bring up to replace Strickland or Warren? There isn’t anyone in Louisville that I would. I think someone in Chattanooga or Dayton would do better. Throw a strike!

Any known reason why Williamson only went 3 innings? Possibly ineffectiveness due to 4 walks and a 3 hits during that stretch, though 4 K’s and 2 runs. Hopefully nothing there, he’s been coming around lately.
Tough sledding in Daytona, some rough offensive numbers down there, outside of Rogers and Ibarra.

    • Krozley

83 pitches thru 3 innings. Hopefully just a blip as he’s been on a nice run.

Doug, Evan Drellich had a piece at The Athletic this morning about MLB experimenting with baseballs and sticky stuff at the AA level. Could that be part of Williamson’s apparent problems this season?

Ibarra seems like a big strong dude. Can’t wait to see him smack some baseballs around in A+.

  5. LDS

Aquino and Friedl aren’t delivering, at least not consistently. Send them down and give Cedrola and Dawson a shot. What is there to lose? Let the roster moves begin.

I whole heartedly agree with you LDS. at this point in season you’ve given enough chances to both of them. They aren’t big losses if someone grabs them off waivers. Time for someone else to get a shot. Playing time is what last place teams can and should be offering to find that diamond in the rough.
