Excited for both, but Jorge really looks special. His #’s last year, and this impressive start of 22. When did Bob buy a SS factory? We got em coming out our ears.

I see Jorge moving up prospect boards at Elly speed

      • Doug Gray

I don’t just because the tools simply aren’t the same. With that said, I certainly do think he’ll be moving up, but I would be pretty surprised to see him jump up into a Top 100 prospect in all of baseball kind of situation this year unless he goes to Daytona and just absolutely obliterates the ball.

Almonte and Valdez! That’s quite a high end prospect laden team. Top bad its a thousand degrees in the shade or I might have to go down there.

I keep forgetting when I jump to this page on Tuesday morning, there is going to be little to see with the new minor league schedule. Oh well…

As someone who had no power from 6pm-7am I was glad that there were only two games last night. Probably the only time I’ll feel that way all year, but it really helped me out last night.

I’m grateful that there is something.
I do admit my eyes jumped straight to “ACL“ and thought someone tore their anterior cruciate ligament. Glad DG was speaking of the league and not the knee.

Add Donovan Antonia to the list of teenagers to be excited about in the reds system. Reds must’ve already been high on him to have him playing in Arizona as a 17 year old last year but he’s off to as good of a start as you can have in his 18 year old season.

Doug, When he signed you mentioned he was athletic enough to catch but also play around the infield and outfield. Is that still the case?

    • Doug Gray

I honestly don’t know. Haven’t talked with anyone about what’s happening out in Arizona since the season began, and the few times I did talk to people about extended spring training stuff he never came up.

As someone who lives in a minor league city (Dayton), I love the minor league schedule now. If the Dragons are home on Tuesday you know they will be home that whole week. Also lets you see the starting pitcher of your choice. I’ve been to a lot of Boyle and Phillips starts this year. Doug is Kevin Abel on rehab or is he just starting out in Arizona? I thought he was kind of a steal in the draft last year.

Reds 2020 draft pick Mackenzie Wainwright will be sentenced today for being convicted of gross sexual imposition in May but was not convicted of rape. He could go to prison or get probation. He is on Reds administrative leave and MLB has still not weighed in but the Trevor Bauer case where he wasn’t convicted or charged of anything doesn’t sound good for Mac.

Cabrera with his 8th error in his 8th game today

Pineda hitting great so far. Most impressive of the 3 big signees so far. Hard to believe he just barely cracked the top 50 international prospects last year

Krall is saying he wants to be more in the development side than acquiring side. It made me think if the Reds were to buy out the ARB years plus 2 years of only 1 rookie a year, who would I pick. The other guys would be the trade bait in their final 2 years or less.

Starting with our 21 class I’d extend Stephenson, 22 Greene, 23 McLain 24 De La Cruz, 25 Petty, 26 Jorge, 27 Balcalzar.

Who know when these guys come up, and who will actually be good, but it seemed a fun, albeit completely useless exercise. When I started it, I though it would be pitching heavy, but it didn’t work out like that.

Any reason why Boyle didn’t start tonight? Thanks

Missed claiming Fairchild, interesting got him back.
    Hoping can be useful type.
Mayb not a starter, but some sort of role.

I’m really not sure why he’s been passed around so much this year. All he’s done is perform well in AAA.

He’s going to end up for me like Blandino. I always wanted to see him get a starting job for 1 season to show his talent and to develop it further. Instead he got a lot of spot assignments, injuries factored in big time as well, and now he’s off the radar bouncing around the league.

I’d love a different story for Fairchild. It would be great if he did perform well in the spots he’s given, earns his way onto the team.

But there isn’t anything in his statistical profile that says he should be lower than Friedl or Senzel in terms of potential and opportunity on a rebuilding team.

Between the three of them, the thought that we still need a CF in 2023 and beyond is a little vexing.
