Elly De La Cruz hit a 512-foot home run in Chattanooga according to the estimated distance from Trackman, Alex McGarry hit his 24th homer of the season as he maintained his organizational lead in that category, and Dayton won thanks to homers from Quin Cotton, Mat Nelson, and Brian Rey as they avoided falling below .500.

Elly De La Cruz does things that make your head hurt because you can’t comprehend them, and he does so often. But on Thursday night he may have done the biggest one yet as he hit a ball that Trackman estimated at 512 feet. He would later triple and steal home, just in case you were wondering how exciting a player can be in one game.

It seemed like Elly spent quite a few moments admiring his hit before beginning his trot around the bases.

I know in some circles it’s frowned upon if one doesn’t “act like they have been there before”.

Regardless, it was an impressive hit.

You’re allowed to stand there and admire a 512 foot home run. I don’t care what the old codgers say.

He does that often and I love it because he carries himself like a superstar. I hope he keeps doing it and brings some excitement to Cincy and gives us all a reason to go to the ballpark because its so so hard right now.

He is going to be a superstar at the Big League level too. You know it when you see it.

I have really tried to hold down any excitement for EDLC, as he is still so young and has a long way before he gets to MLB. However, nights like last night make it impossible not to get excited about him. What he is doing so far at the AA level is very promising. I hope he continues to develop and show improvement like he has been this year.

I don’t know how long it will be but if he dominates AA the rest of the year he is not far from MLB at all.

Exactly, EDLC and McGARRY both could be in position to join the Reds at some point in 23. Hopefully McLain turns it on to finish the year, and makes himself a viable candidate to.

Was de la Cruz’s steal of home a straight steal, or part of a double steal?

Game wrap on the CHA website says double steal. Cruz scored when McClain got into a rundown.

I know he was discussed briefly in recent days, but Ivan Johnson has righted himself and is putting together another solid season. Good to see. The kid can hit a bit and has some defensive flexibility.

With his pop and athleticism he can be a really valuable player. I was always encouraged by how well he did playing off of McLain at 2B/SS
