The DSL Reds and ACL Reds both got back on the field after some time off – the ACL team hasn’t played since August 2nd and the DSL squad hasn’t played since July 26th. Several 2022 draft picks made their professional debut’s out in Arizona while Hector Rodriguez had another big night in an ACL Reds win, and down in the Dominican the DSL Reds got back on the field for the first time in nearly two weeks and picked up a win that saw Carlos Sanchez extend hit on-base streak to start his career to 36 games.

Has Acosta been assigned yet? Wasn’t listed among the bench players in the ASL game. I can’t imaging they would play Faltine over both Balcazar and Acosta if were already on the team there.
Not yet, no.
I’ve been a U of Texas baseball fan for many years and the Longhorn Network has great baseball coverage. I’ve watched Trey Faltine forthje last couple years and he is a great physical specimen with a big upside so he could give the two you listed some competition.
Actually, Acosta is starting at SS in Arizona tonight.
Glad to see that 5 of the 6 drafted position players started their pro careers in Arizona. Interesting to see that the 2 youngest, Collier and Stewart hit 3,4 in the lineup. Also, looks like the organization has started releasing players to open up spots for the draftees. 3 released from Daytona and 1 from Louisville. More to come with player movement expected.
Nice see CC and Stewart begin the journey.
Justin Boyd with nice debut offensively… Hector Rodríguez looks ready to go to the Tortugas….
Ricardo Cabrera did not play…
Parker Brahms had a good numbers at NCAA but struggled at Rookie-Low-A level in 2021. He played in a Indy league apparently having solid performance…He is 24 so should be playing in AA or AAA by this time…
Boyd and Faultine need to move up to Daytona. Just no room in AZL
Already 3 legit OF and IF prospects there. I would not mind seeing Acosta, Rodriguez, Boyd and Faultine move to Daytona.
That would leave 5 IF and 3 OF and playing time for everyone thanks to the DH.
Just like last season, everyone is probably going to get 2-4 games in the ACL to “get back to games” and then some of the older guys will head off to full season ball. The draft being when it is really screws up so much of this, but the people that make these decisions (re: not actual baseball people) are morons who don’t get this. All they see is some dream down the road of making money off of the broadcasting of the draft.
All of last week’s ACL games being canceled didn’t help either.
I was told by a Dragons coach years ago when I questioned why a top prospect didn’t play every day, he said that everyone on the roster is going to get an opportunity regardless of prospect status. That this is all the players choice as their career and the all deserved that respect until they proved they did not.
Excellent point MK.
I definitely wouldn’t agree with, say, a glove-first guy like Torres playing SS over Noelvi…ever. But if you have a place for both of them to play, by all means
Wow, a lot of moves between the ACL Reds and Daytona. Tanner, Faltine and Boyd only 1 game in Arizona and on the Daytona roster today. Ascanio also up to Daytona. Surprised it was him over Balcazar, Jorge and even Rodriguez. A lot of players activated off the IL and great to see Confidan on a rehab assignment in Arizona. Rivera promoted to Dayton also great to see. Boyle up to Chattanooga and Stoudt to Louisville too.
Great news. Thanks Steve.
SteveO you need to change your name to 411, cause you got the information. That’s some exciting news. 1) Confidan on rehab! 2) Boyle and Stoudt get one step closer!
Stoudt promoted to AAA (and starting tonight), Boyle to AA
Thanks BK
Finally a big boost to Daytona’s lineup! They needed it badly!
Callahan returns
Rogers returns
Confidan starting a rehab to Arizona then will be back
Tanner called up
Faltine called up
Boyd called up
Ascanio Called up
Those 6 along with Arroyo, Allen, and Minier should make that a fun lineup to watch.
Something like
1 – Arroyo – SS
2 – Allen – CF
3 – Callahan – 3B
4 – Confidan – RF
5 – Boyd – LF
6 – Ascanio – DH
7 – Rogers/Faltine – 2B
8 – Tanner/Jones – C
9 – Minier/Pino – 1B
Hopefully Rodriguez follows and Dunn comes off the IL soon too
With the Stoudt promotion, I think this puts him and Williamson in a great position to challenge the likes of Overton, Dunn, Dugger and Zeuch for the 2 spots in the Reds rotation alongside Greene, Lodolo and Ashcraft. Personally, to continue the youth movement, I’d want Stoudt and Williamson up to the Reds with Overton, Dunn, Dugger and Zeuch in Louisville ready to step in. We’d start the ‘23 season with 4-25 year olds and a 23 year old as our starters. They all grow together and feed off each other, gain valuable experience and be ready to contend from ‘24.
With the players coming off of the IL and addition of the draftees, the Daytona lineup looks like a new team! Will be much more competitive going forward.
