John Michael Faile began the season 1-17. His playing time was spotty as he played in just six games during May while that stretch was happening. Since the start of June he’s played in 11 games and has hit .471/.591/.794 with seven extra-base hits, seven walks, and nine strikeouts.

Jesus Torres had gone 1-14 since June 20th before picking up two hits on Tuesday. It was his first multi-hit game of the year (14 games).

Luis Morellis lowered his ERA to 2.37 through his nine outings. He’s thrown 30.1 innings this year and allowed just 19 hits, walked 15 batters, and he’s now struck out 42 batters.

Dominic Scheffler had his best outing of his career. He set a career high with 4.0 innings. It was only the second (of nine) games that he hasn’t allowed a run. It was the first time he didn’t walk a batter.

Fun pitching lineup today with what you could argue is 3 of our top 4 starting pitching prospects.

Before last night Blandino had faced 15 batters, and walked 7 of them.

I think the Reds have reached a critical juncture with Jay Allen. He is in a horrible rut and it is starting to manifest in frustration. But I think part of the frustration in what he must feel is stagnation. It is his third year in Dayton and his first two and a half months of the season were promotion worthy. Ibarra moved up with numbers not close. Hendrick has been bad. Chattanooga needs offensive help but still no Jay. They need to promote him now or lose a tremendous talent permanently.
