- Hunter Parks threw 2.0 hitless innings with a walk and 3 strikeouts.
- Kevin Abel threw a hitless inning with 2 walks and a strikeout.
Game Notes
Noelvi Marte exited the game after the 6th inning. It was unclear why that happened as he doubled in his previous at-bat in the 5th and showed no signs of an issue on the play, and he was not involved in any plays in the field in the 6th inning.
Jay Allen II has a 4-game hitting streak. In his last two games he’s gone 2-4 in each. In the 18 games before this hit streak (his entire time in Triple-A) he had just nine hits.
Edwin Arroyo had been in a slump before he was called up by the Reds in late August. He was 1-15 in the five games before he was called up. He then went 1-17 with Cincinnati during his call up. This was his first game back with the Bats and he was able to pick up two hits in his return.
Kevin Abel lowered his ERA to 1.72 through seven games and 15.2 innings with the Bats since he was promoted in mid-August to Louisville.
After losing 11 of 13, Louisville has now won three games in a row.

Game Notes
After missing May, June, July, and August, Michael Trautwein returned to Chattanooga earlier this month. He’s walked in all four of the games he’s played in for the Lookouts. Going back to his time in April he’s gone 4-20 in the last eight games he’s played, but also walked 10 times in those same eight games.
The home runs from Trautwein and Yerlin Confidan both hit the batters eye in center.

Game Notes
The win by Dayton evened up the series at 1-1. The series finale will be played on Friday night. Whoever wins the game will advance to the Midwest League Championship game to take on Quad Cities, who swept South Bend in their series.
Dayton took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning after Justin Lebron reached on a strikeout on a wild pitch, stole second base, took third on a single, and then scored on a groundout. Three innings later came the big blow of the game. Ryan McCrystal and Johnny Ascanio both singled to start the inning. It was Kyle Henley who then came through with a big hit, tripling into the right field corner with two outs to make it a 3-0 game.
The pitching for Dayton was strong all night with the lone exception of the 7th inning when Great Lakes was able to put together a 2-out rally of sorts with a double and an RBI single to score their lone run of the game. Victor Diaz, who gave up that RBI single (but not the double before it) struck out three of the last five batters he faced before Trent Hodgdon came on for the 9th to get a groundout and then two strikeouts to end the game.
Dayton won a home playoff game for the first time since 2011.
The Daytona Tortugas lost 13-2. Box Score
- Arnaldo Lantigua went 3-4 with a double and a home run.
- Rafhlmil Torres went 1-4.
- Drew Davies went 1-3 with a walk and a run.
- Adolfo Sanchez went 1-4 with a double and an RBI.
- Anielson Buten went 1-3.
- Bryan Salgado threw 1.2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts.
Game Notes
The loss ends the season for Daytona as they were swept by Jupiter.
The Tortugas took a 1-0 lead on the home run by Arnaldo Lantigua in the top of the 1st inning. Jupiter would take the lead for good in the 3rd with a 2-run inning. They added three more runs in the 4th. After Daytona got a run in the 5th, the Hammerheads scored two in the 6th and then six more in the 7th.
Lantigua had a nice showing in the two games as he went 4-7 with two doubles and a home run.
Top Pitch Velocity: Bryan Salgado – 96.3 MPH (strikeout)
Top Exit Velocity: Ichiro Cano – 97.7 MPH (groundout)
Furthest Hit Baseball: Rafhlmil Torres – 374 feet (flyout)

Victor Diaz has been on fire since he got demoted back to Dayton.
Struck out 11 of the 21 batters he’s faced, while only surrendering 1 hit.
Was at the Dayton game
Kyle McCoy did a good job of keeping the ball down and getting ground outs, but man was he struggling to miss any bats. I’m not sure what happened to his changeup but he has really had issues getting guys to swing at it or land it in the zone.
Jose Montero looked real good, I’m not sure why he can’t get going at all in AA when he gets the chance. His changeup/splitter/whatever it is (was sitting in the RC grass, so tough to tell) coming in at 89/90 was a real weapon and his fastball topped out at 97.
Kyle Henley does a great job communicating and reading hitters in CF, the speed is obvious, but I don’t think he gets the best of jumps off the bat. At least not like Carlos Jorge who is ridiculously good at it. There was one ball that fell in the LC gap that I was sure he was going to get but it dropped right in between him and Vu. He’s a real good CF defender, but I think there is still room for improvement. Or maybe comparing him to Carlos Jorge is just a bit unfair. His two RBI triple was the decider in the game. I thought for a second he might try for an inside the park HR, but he probably wisely ended up with the stand up triple.
Justin Lebron had two very hard hit balls, one was the double to straight away CF and his fly out to LF probably went 350 feet out and 400 feet up, he juuuuust missed the angle on that but absolutely pulverized the pitch. Still struggling some on breaking balls, but it got him to 1B and scored the first run after he reached on a passed ball strikeout and stole second. He can flat out fly on the bases, and had very good range at SS as well.
Hopefully they can pull off the W tonight and make the Championship series, the pitching did a great job limiting a very talented Loons roster (Dodgers) last night.
Maybe Montero could pitch winter ball at Venezuelan LVBP with champ team Magallanes..hope he could do it just 20 innings at least..I think Franco would be benefited from pitching some frames there too as last winter, Magallanes has good pitching coaching staff..
By the way , it seems Krall was also at the Dayton game , Did you meet him? (Just kidding)
The young Tortugas hitters were a little overmatched, although Arnaldo Lantigua seemed pretty composed.
Part of me thinks not having their veterans, Henley and Moon, didn’t help either. However, having the younger guys with more upside such as Sanchez, Morillo, Lantigua and, although they held him out yesterday, Hall go through a playoff and see how teams win is good experience.
And, for whatever reasons, last week’s series vs Palm Beach with the accompanying slumps of Hairston, Hall, etc may not have helped. It should be noted that the Tortugas leadership had the team pumped up. Torres played some nice defense.
Henley was pretty instrumental in the Dayton victory though. Didn’t strike out either.
The one play at short by Lebron going to his right was pretty sweet. But he was super smooth on the front end of a DP that was just as impressive though for a different reason.
It bugged me a little when they brought Ascanio down and played him at 2B instead of Becker as well as Alcantara, but you can see why they did it given his fire. He was chirping. Bat flip after a HBP. I was just laughing.
