The Reds have the #7 overall pick in this years Draft. They don’t have a second round pick as a result of signing Francisco Cordero, so they really need to make a slam dunk pick with their first guy. Going by Baseball America’s Draft Tracker, I am going to go over the top 15 guys eligible for the Draft and do a prospect profile on each guy, one per day to get ready for the draft.

Scouting Report

Hitting Ability Line drive hitter to all fields who makes good contact and knows the strikezone.
Power Average to slightly above average power.
Speed Average to slightly above average.
Arm Average.
Fielding Average to slightly above average at SS.
Concerns There are some concerns he may eventually move off of SS if he continues to get bigger.
Summary Likely the second Beckham to be taken from the state of Georgia, the one in college has a good shot to be around at #7 for the Reds. He is a polished hitter who has a legit chance to stick at SS as a professional. Unless Alvarez or the other Beckham fall, I would like the Reds to snatch up this guy if available over anyone else in the draft.
