Louisville Bats: 54-49 overall, 475 runs scored, 454 runs allowed.

The Bats have been up and down lately, going .500 over the last week or so. They are 5 games over .500, 10.5 games back of first place Columbus and 4.5 games back in the Wild Card standings. Devin Mesoraco has hit .308 over his last 10 games. Yonder Alonso has posted an .896 OPS over that same time frame. Dave Sappelt has hit .310 over his last 10 games, but had his 9 game hit streak come to an end yesterday. Travis Wood has put together two strong starts together the last week, going 11.1 innings with 2 earned runs and 13 strikeouts with 1 walk. Edinson Volquez had a strong start with a complete game and 9 strikeouts without a walk.

Carolina Mudcats: 14-15 (2nd half), 163 runs scored, 159 runs allowed.

Denis Phipps has been crushing the ball for the Mudcats, hitting well over .400 for both June and July. He was promoted to Louisville when Zack Cozart went to the DL in Cincinnati. Quintin Berry has been on fire over his last 10 games, hitting .316/.366/.684 over that time. David Cook has also been hitting very well, hitting .333/.415/.556 in his last 10 games.  Felix Perez has been hitting well for the last 2 months, hitting .312 over that time with 14 extra base hits.

Bakersfield Blaze: 15-15 (2nd half), 147 runs scored, 155 runs allowed.

The Blaze have won 9 games in a row, moving to .500 after a poor start to the second half. Didi Gregorius has been on fire lately. He has a 9 game hitting streak and is hitting .442 over that time with an .814 slugging percentage over that time. Brodie Greene has been even hotter, hitting an even .500/.522/1.095 in his last 10 games with 6 HR’s. Chris Richburg has a 12 game hitting streak and he is hitting .370 over that time while slugging over .700. Curtis Partch threw a complete game with 4 strikeouts on the 22nd, his 2nd complete game of the season. JC Sulbaran continued to pitch well, over his last 10 starts he has a 3.83 ERA with 61 strikeouts and 22 walks in 54 innings pitched.

Dayton Dragons: 21-8 (2nd half), 178 runs scored, 113 runs allowed.

The Dragons have won 7 games in a row. Just about the entire team is on fire from an offensive standpoint. Rather than go 1 by 1, I just created a table of how each player has performed in the second half of the season (starters only):

The pitchers have been strong as well. Daniel Renken has been incredibly strong over his last 6 starts, going 34.3 innings pitched with a 1.31 ERA, 52 strikeouts and 14 walks. Chad Rogers had thrown 6.1 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts this past week. Brian Pearl is back in Dayton and has a 2.61 ERA in 10.1 innings with 3 walks and 15 strikeouts. Mitch Clarke has taken the rotation spot of an injured Kyle Lotzkar (hamstring) and threw 5 shutout innings in his first start for Dayton.

Billings Mustangs: 17-16 overall, 207 runs scored, 188 runs allowed.

Juan Silva has been on fire, hitting .455/.581/.667 over his last 10 games with 10 walks and 11 strikeouts. Devin Lohman has been hitting very well for the Mustangs, with a .343/.478/.457 over his last 10 games (5 game hitting streak). Tony Cingrani has 13.1 innings with 1 walks and 18 strikeouts to go along with a 2.70 ERA in his first 5 starts. Radhames Quezada has 31 strikeouts and 8 walks in 27 innings (4.33 ERA). James Allen has 20 strikeouts and 3 walks in 16.1 innings (2.20 ERA). Ismael Guillon has 10 strikeouts and 3 walks in his last 2 starts (4.36 ERA in those starts).

AZL Reds: 14-13 overall, 166 runs scored, 159 runs allowed.

The AZL Reds are a half a game out of first place in the Central Division. Ryan Wright has hit .318/.375/.636 in 5 games since signing. Juan Perez has hit .357/.438/.476 in his last 10 games and has 6 hits in his last 10 at bats. Julio Morillo has hit .417/.476/.583 over his last 10 games (9 game hitting streak). Alejandro Chacin has yet to allow an earned run. He has 22 strikeouts and 2 walks in 10.1 innings. Christopher Joyce has also yet to allow an earned run this season in 8 innings with a walk and 10 strikeouts.
