Baseball America rolled out its first league rankings today with the Arizona Rookie League Top 20 prospects. Reds second round draft pick Gabriel Rosa was the only Red to make the list and he came in at #15. The top prospect in the league was Yoan Alcantara of the Padres. He had good slash numbers across the board, but he only had 4 walks in 218 PA’s. I will be keeping my eye on that as he moves forward. Here is the list for other leagues and when they will come out:

  • Pioneer League: September 22nd
  • Midwest League: September 27th
  • California League: September 29th
  • Southern League: October 5th
  • International League: October 7th

Here are the start dates for the Fall/Winter Leagues

  • Arizona Fall League: October 4th
  • Dominican Winter League: October 14th
  • Puerto Rican Winter League: To be determined if there will be a season.
  • Venezuelan Winter League:  October 12th

Sean McClelland at the Dayton Daily News has a good article up on the Dayton Dragons season. There are notes from scouts on several players.

Not a ton of notes to rattle through today, so let me ask a nice discussion question: What do you do with the young players/prospects in regards to next year? Are you making trades? Sticking with x player at y position? What would your plan be?
