  • Joel Guzman went 1-3 with a double and a walk.
  • Brodie Greene went 1-4 with a double and a run.
  • Cody Puckett went 2-3 with a walk, RBI and a run.

  • Mike Costanzo went 1-1 with 2 RBI as a pinch hitter.
  • Clayton Tanner threw 2.2 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts.
  • Justin Freeman threw a perfect inning of relief with a strikeout.
  • Donnie Joseph threw a perfect 9th inning to pick up the win.

Game notes

Daniel Corcino struggled in his first start of the season, going just 4.1 innings with 3 earned runs, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. He pitched 2 innings on Tuesday in the Futures game, so I will be interesting to see how he does in his next start on regular rest. Joel Guzman led off the 9th inning with a double and was pinch run for by Josh Fellhauer in a 4-4 tie. After a walk and an unsuccessful sac bunt attempt, PJ Phillips grounded into a fielders choice (attempted double 6-4-3 DP) that left runners on the corners with 2 outs. Brian Peacock stepped up to the plate and laid down a bunt single to win the game. Donnie Joseph recorded three ground outs in the 9th innings on 9 pitches.

Bakersfield lost 5-4. Box Score

  • Billy Hamilton went 1-3 with a walk, double, RBI, steal (2) and a run.
  • Devin Lohman went 2-4 with a run.
  • Tucker Barnhart went 1-2 with 2 walks and a run.
  • Jamie Walczak threw 1.2 scoreless innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts.
  • Daniel Wolford threw 2 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts.
  • Brian Pearl threw a perfect inning with 2 strikeouts.

Game notes

Donald Lutz hit a solo home run in the 8th inning that the Blaze broadcaster called one of the longest he has ever seen. I created an image of where the ball landed given the description of the radio call. It hit the tree where the red dot is in this picture. It is worth noting that the wall in center is only 354 feet, but the wall is 20 feet tall, trees behind it, then another 30 foot tall wall behind that. Not a good game for Yorman Rodriguez who went 0-5 with an RBI and a Golden Sombrero. Likewise for Josh Smith who allowed 3 earned runs in 3.2 innings with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Dayton lost 5-4 in 11 innings. Box Score

  • Ryan Wright went 1-4 with a walk, double, RBI and a run.
  • Sean Buckley went 2-5 with a HR (1) and 2 RBI.
  • James Ewing went 3-5 with a double and a steal (1).
  • Theo Bowe went 1-4 with a walk.
  • Tanner Robles allowed a run in 6 innings with no walks and 7 strikeouts.
  • Kyle McMyne threw 2 shutout innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts.

Game notes

Tanner Robles put together a strong start for the Dragons. When he is on his game, he can really put together some good starts. An error led off the 11th inning and the go ahead run was scored with two outs.Non-game related, but check out the article Tom Archdeacon wrote about Steve Selsky and his sister. It is pretty awesome.
