4/27 Game Review

Louisville won 2-1. Box Score

  • Neftali Soto went 1-2 with a double, walks and a run.
  • Mike Costanzo went 2-3 with a HR (5) and 2 RBI.
  • Felix Perez went 1-3.
  • Jeff Francis allowed a run in 8 innings with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts.
  • Josh Judy threw a scoreless 9th for the save.

Game notes

Jeff Francis lowered his ERA to 3.30 through 5 starts. He has been a strikeout machine for the Bats, with 33 strikeouts in 30 innings. Very surprising for a guy who probably hasn’t thrown 89 this season. Josh Judy picked up his first save of the season as he dropped his ERA to 1.74.

Game notes

Daniel Corcino had good final results, but he struggled with his mechanics and his control during the game. I will get to more of that with a longer post later in the weekend. Henry Rodriguez raised his line on the season to .330/.363/.445. Joel Guzman continues to impress with a .315/.400/.493 line along with 11 walks and 12 strikeouts. Josh Fellhauer is up to .341 on the year in 15 games. The game today will be available on Milb.tv if you are a subscriber.

Kyle Lotzkar struggled with his control some, but he lowered his seasons ERA to 1.25 with 5.2 shutout innings and moved to 3-0. Brian Pearl lowered his ERA on the year to 1.69. Billy Hamilton continues to pretend he is playing high schoolers and is now hitting .395 with 26 steals in 21 games. Donald Lutz raised his average to .333 on the season. The win pushes the win streak to 11 games for the Blaze.

Dayton lost 3-0. Box Score

  • Jimmy Moran threw a scoreless inning of work with a strikeout.

Game notes

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to watch the game. It was listed as available, then later disappeared from the Milb.tv list. It is now archived, so I will be able to go back and watch it. While the game didn’t go well, it will be my first real good look at the stuff from Radhames Quezada. I will probably watch his four innings tomorrow at some point. Dan Jensen is now at 14 innings without an earned run to start the season. He has 2 walks and 12 strikeouts in that span as well. Ryan Kemp lowered his ERA on the year to 1.46. The game was played in Miller Park in front of just over 6,600 people.
