With a perfect inning of relief for Louisville on Wednesday afternoon Justin Freeman continued his strong month of August. The right hander now has 9.2 innings with a 0.93 ERA, just two walks and nine strikeouts. One poor outing really skews his ERA with Louisville. Outside of that one outing his ERA is 2.42.

For the third day in a row Yorman Rodriguez homered for Pensacola on a night where he went 1-4 with a walk and two runs batted in. The outfielder continued his strong August and over his last 10 games he has hit .308/.438/.590 with two steals.

Travis Mattair also homered for Pensacola last night, going 1-5. He too continued the roll he’s been on, hitting .372/.426/.814 over the last 11 games with five doubles, a triple and four home runs. The home run hit last night was his 12th of the season. He needs one more to match the 13 he hit last season, that is the second most in the Blue Wahoos short history for a season, trailing Juan Duran’s 17 this season.

After a slow start to August Phillip Ervin has continued to turn things around with three more hits last night. Over the last 12 games he has hit .386 with six doubles and four walks. He also extended his hit streak to four games.

KJ Franklin had two hits, including a home run and five runs batted in for Billings. He continued his turn around and has now hit .308/.341/.527 over his last 85 plate appearances for the Mustangs spanning back to July 30th. In that span he’s found his power stroke, smacking six doubles, a triple and three homers.

Another start and another strong appearance for Wyatt Strahan. The Billings starter allowed a run in 4.0 innings pitched with no walks and six strikeouts. He’s walked just one batter in his last 23.1 innings with 27 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.31 over the last seven starts.
