Kyle Waldrop hit .338 between Bakersfield and Pensacola during the regular season as he easily led the organization in average. The five weeks off after the season ended didn’t slow things down as he is now hitting .458 through five games out in the Arizona Fall League. Last night he went out and had three more hits, falling just a home run short of the cycle. Waldrop scored three runs and drove in two more. He leads the Arizona Fall League in average and OPS while also being in the top five in on-base percentage and slugging. His offseason work prior to the season seems to have really paid off. Below is an update on all of the players from the fall and winter leagues so far.
Speaking of the fall and winter leagues, tonight will kick off the Dominican Winter League. Unfortunately the rosters aren’t out yet for any of the teams, so we will have to wait to see which Reds prospects wind up on the rosters.
Baseball America finally posted the Southern League Top 20 Prospects chat. You need to be a subscriber to Baseball America to read it and there was really only one Reds related question in the chat, but it covered both Yorman Rodriguez and Kyle Waldrop. Both were considered for the list according to Matt Eddy and he has some scouting information on both players in the chat.
Nick Howard will be starting tonight for Surprise in the Arizona Fall League. The game will be in Surprise and they have the Pitch F/X cameras installed. Can’t wait to see the data. Expect to see something on it tomorrow afternoon.
