Today is my last day in Goodyear. I will be starting the drive back to Cincinnati after the games are played later this afternoon. Once I get to the hotel I’ll write up a post for Sunday. I will be spending most of Sunday on the road as well – so updates will be sparse. The same probably holds true for Monday, though I do have an article planned around a guy who has been very impressive in what I’ve seen out here. Plenty of video on him as well as some information on his changes and improvements. For this morning though, I wanted to just share some video of two guys that haven’t had much out there as far as looks around the internet: Jake Turnbull and Michael Beltre.
Jake Turnbull Video
Jake Turnbull missed a majority of the 2016 season while dealing with a bit of a knee issue and a broken finger. He only had 40 plate appearances for the Arizona League Reds during the season. As a 17-year-old in 2015 he hit .291/.395/.373 with 17 walks and 31 strikeouts for the Reds in Arizona. The Australian has only caught in the past, though he’s been getting reps at first base this spring.
Michael Beltre Video
Michael Beltre was my breakout prospect pick last spring and it worked out quite well. The then 20-year-old switch hitter hit .299/.399/.481 between the Arizona League Reds and Billings Mustangs in 2016. His time with the Mustangs was stronger than his time in Arizona as he improved as the season went along. He showed off good plate discipline, walking 26 times with 38 strikeouts. Beltre also stole 13 bases in 14 attempts.
