This post is sponsored by Cincy Fitted. They are having a sale of a few Cincinnati and Ohio related shirts right now if that’s the sort of thing that you are into. Right now you can get this shirt for just $13. So click the link above, or the photo and check them out.

I will also take this time to remind you that you can also support the work done here at the site by contributing over at Patreon. That support, far more than the advertising on the site, keeps things going. With your support you will get daily emails about the games from the night before along with plenty of notes on the players, and some early access stuff that eventually finds its way to the site a few days later. Thanks for allowing the sales pitch – the draft is the busiest day(s) of the year and I’d be foolish to not take advantage of asking when the most eyeballs are here.

This post will be updated throughout the day with information on each pick as they come in. All of the Cincinnati Reds selections from rounds 11-20 will be in this one post. There will be four posts today, each one with 10 selections. You can see each post, covering all of the picks in the draft by clicking here.

Round 11 Selection: Noah Davis, RHP, UC Santa Barbara

Background Information:

  • School: UC Santa Barbara
  • Position: Right-handed pitcher
  • Height: 6′ 2″
  • Weight: 195 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

Noah Davis missed most of the 2018 season after having Tommy John surgery in March. Before he was injured he showed off very strong stuff. His fastball was in the low-to-mid 90’s and he topped out at 97 MPH. His go-to pitch, however, was his slider, which is an above-average offering and flashes itself as a plus pitch at times. He also throws a change up, but it’s fringe-average and one he doesn’t use much.

College Stats

Year Age ERA IP H HR BB K
2016 19 4.46 82.2 85 7 30 63
2017 20 4.63 81.2 88 6 22 65
2018 21 5.19 8.2 5 0 6 11

Round 12 Selection: Josiah Sightler, LHP, Swansea High School (SC)

Background Information:

  • School: Swansea High School (South Carolina)
  • Position: Left-handed pitcher
  • Height: 6′ 4″
  • Weight: 205 lbs
  • Bats/Throws: Left/Left
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

A big left-handed pitcher, Josiah Sightler currently throws his fastball in the mid-to-upper 80’s and tops out around 90 MPH. There’s projection left there with his velocity thanks to his frame. His secondary offerings are a curveball and a change up. Reportedly he did not pitch in his senior season as he was recovering from a torn labrum. That certainly adds a big twist to things.

Round 13 Selection: Brian Rey, 2B, Miami Dade Community College (FL)

Background Information:

  • School: Miami Dade Community College (Florida)
  • Position: 2B
  • Height: 5′ 11″
  • Weight: 170lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

When it comes to performance, Brian Rey has done nothing but perform at Miami Dade Community College in his freshman and sophomore years. He hit .400+ in each year and slugged over .600 in both seasons, too. He’s short, listed at 5′ 11″, but there’s some strength in there.

College Stats

Year AB 2B 3B HR BB K SB AVG OBP SLG
2017 156 9 2 6 8 17 6 .404 .450 .603
2018 200 18 3 9 28 17 7 .400 .479 .655

Round 14 Selection: Michael Byrne, RHP, Florida

Background Information:

  • School: Florida
  • Position: Right-handed pitcher
  • Height: 6′ 3″
  • Weight: 205 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

He’s been a reliever for almost all of his college career. He made three starts in 2017, but his other 77 games have all come out of the bullpen for the Gators. Byrne racked up 19 saves in 2017 and 13 more in 2018. His fastball works in the low-90’s, but he controls it very well and pounds the strikezone. He shows a solid slider as his secondary offering.

Round 15 Selection: Christopher Williams, OF, River Ridge High School (GA)

Background Information:

  • School: River Ridge High School (Georgia)
  • Position: Outfielder
  • Height: 6′ 1″
  • Weight: 190 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Left/Left
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

He was a prospect as a pitcher, too, but the Reds announced him as a right fielder.

At the plate, Chris Williams is considered to be raw, but has a quick bat with average raw power to tap into in the future. He has average speed on the bases and projects to fit in well as a right fielder thanks to a strong arm.

Round 16 Selection: Drew Mount, OF, Kansas State

Background Information:

  • School: Kansas State
  • Position: Outfield
  • Height: 5′ 11″
  • Weight: 205 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Left/Right
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

A former college football player, Drew Mount decided to give baseball another shot after his freshman year of redshirting on the gridiron. He spent two seasons at De Anza in California, showing big improvement from his freshman to sophomore seasons. He transferred to Kansas State where he was considered raw, but talented. Mount shows off above-average speed and can handle center field, and he’s also used his speed well on the bases. There’s strength in his frame and it gives him above-average raw power to tap into in the future.

College Stats

Year School AB 2B 3B HR BB K SB AVG OBP SLG
2016 De Anza 123 3 2 2 11 18 20 .260 .359 .366
2017 De Anza 150 12 2 9 27 30 11 .333 .449 .620
2018 Kansas State 195 7 7 9 34 55 21 .292 .414 .538

Round 17 Selection: Noah Dickerson, OF, TNXL Academy

Background Information:

  • School: TNXL Academy (High School, Florida)
  • Position: Outfield
  • Height: 6′ 4″
  • Weight: 180 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Left/Right
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

Noah Dickerson has some bat speed and size to work with. His frame has room to fill out some more, which could let him tap into more power in the future.

Round 18 Selection: Alberto Gonzalez, RHP, Alexander High School (TX)

Background Information:

  • School: Alexander High School (Texas)
  • Position: Right-handed pitcher
  • Height: 6′ 1″
  • Weight: 180 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right
  • Previously Drafted: Not drafted

Scouting Report

Alberto Gonzalez has a low-90’s fastball that has been up to 94 MPH (the video below appears to say 95, but I can’t be certain the comment was about Gonzalez). He shows off a good breaking ball. Control will need to improve.

Round 19 Selection: Nick Starr, RHP, Southern Arkansas

Background Information:

  • School: Southern Arkansas University
  • Position: Right-handed pitcher
  • Height: 6′ 3″
  • Weight: 225 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right
  • Previously Drafted:

Scouting Report

Having trouble finding anything on Nick Starr. Will update if and when I get information.

Round 20 Selection: Evan Marquardt, RHP, Ball State

Background Information:

  • School: Ball State
  • Position: Right-handed pitcher
  • Height: 6′ 6″
  • Weight: 259 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right
  • Previously Drafted: Undrafted

Scouting Report

The stats aren’t very good. His ERA in three years at Ball State is 6.35, as he’s split time between the rotation and the bullpen. He does miss bats, though, striking out 132 batters in 117.2 innings during his career. His fastball works in the low 90’s topping out at 94. He will also mix in a solid breaking ball that flashes above-average.
