The Cincinnati Reds have traded catching prospect Joe Hudson to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of the United States of America of Earth of the Milky Way. The Reds announced that he was traded for cash, but how much remains unknown. Joe Hudson had two tweets earlier this afternoon:
Getting traded wasn’t anything I expected, but here we are. Thank you @Reds for giving me a shot. Thank you to every coach, trainer, scout, coordinator, clubbie, front office individual, and everyone else for your time. But, I will miss the boys the most! Good luck to you all.

With that, I’m excited to join the @Angels and ready to get to work immediately. Thankful for the opportunity. #GoHalos

For Joe Hudson, he had been in Louisville with the Bats. His time had been limited – he didn’t begin seeing action until the second week of May. On a crowded team with catchers in Triple-A, he also didn’t see action often as he would share time with multiple other catchers. He was hitting .235/.339/.294 on the season in 60 total plate appearances. You can see his career stats at his Baseball-Reference page.
Joe Hudson was well known for his defense. He showed off a strong and very accurate arm behind the plate and controlled the running game well. The former Notre Dame catcher had thrown out 43% of attempted base stealers in his minor league career with the Cincinnati Reds organization. He is also noted for handling a pitching staff well and is a strong receiver and game caller behind the plate.
