The Cincinnati Reds officially added shortstop Freddy Galvis to the 25-man roster this afternoon. In turn they have optioned infielder/outfielder Brian O’Grady to Triple-A Louisville.

For Brian O’Grady he heads back to join Louisville after spending nearly a week in the Major Leagues. He picked up his first career hit – a single against the Chicago Cubs on August 10th, in his first big league call up. Who knows how long he’ll remain in Triple-A with the Bats, but it will give him a chance to catch up to Aristides Aquino for the Louisville Bats franchise record in home runs (he trails him by 1). O’Grady is hitting .277/.351/.562 for Louisville in 100 games played this season with 27 doubles, a triple, and 27 home runs.
I wrote a lot about Freddy Galvis yesterday and what I hope it does and doesn’t mean when it comes to playing time and how it’s handed out moving forward. We’re all going to have to wait and see on this one. He’s not in the lineup tonight. Jose Iglesias is getting the start at shortstop and Josh VanMeter is at second base.
