Ah, Spring Training is finally here. Its usually the second best day of the year (behind Opening Day of course). From the end of October until mid-February there is no baseball to speak of on television and after 5 billion trade rumors we all start to get a little nuts in the head. Real baseball is back and its a saving grace for me at least. No more rumors, no more hypotheticals…. just good ole baseball to talk about and watch.
Hope springs eternal, or so they say. Every year we get a new hope and this year is no different. New manager, new closer, prospects ready to step in and step up. It will be fun to see how guys like Jay Bruce, Homer Bailey, Johnny Cueto, Joey Votto, Josh Roenicke, Tyler Pelland, Marcus McBeth, Chris Dickerson, Adam Rosales and Matt Maloney perform. My bet is that only three of them make the roster, but nearly all of them see time in Cincinnati by the end of the year.
Keep an eye on Josh Roenicke. Lets just say that while doing some research over the past 24 hours, he put up one of the most interesting (in a good way) stats I have seen in a long time. More on that sometime in the next few days though as there is a lot more data to go through.
