On Thursday afternoon John Fay reported that RHP Raisel Iglesias would remain in the Arizona Fall League instead of going to Puerto Rico to pitch.

While the competition in Puerto Rico is certainly stronger than that in the Arizona Fall League, personally I believe it’s better to keep him in the Arizona Fall League. First, the Reds own Delino DeShields managed the team and gives the Reds a tad bit more influence on exactly how he is used. Secondly it will give the Reds a better look at him. From a selfish standpoint it will also give us Pitch F/X data from the league.

Later today the Arizona Fall League will have their annual Fall Stars game. It is basically a “Futures Game” among the players in the league. The game will be available to watch on MLB Network at 8pm ET. You will also be able to watch on MLB.com. Tune in for the first pitch as Nick Howard will be making the start for the West Division. Jesse Winker and Ben Klimesh will also be on the West Division squad. Winker is not in the starting lineup and Klimesh will be coming out of the bullpen.
